How to Find the Perfect Wedding Dress

Wedding Dress Shopping Tips Every Bride Needs

When you're planning your wedding, one of the most exciting (and sometimes daunting) tasks you will be taking on is wedding dress shopping. This can be an amazing experience if you are well prepared, so today we are sharing some of our top wedding dress shopping tips!

Make Appointments

While some bridal boutiques encourage walk-ins, many would prefer and even insist that you make an appointment so that they can dedicate personal attention to you and your bridal party. If the store you're planning to shop at is very popular, you may need to make an appointment well in advance. Try not to make more than two or three appointments in one day, as they can be very tiring and you will need a break in between. Be sure to re-confirm your appointment a few days beforehand and check if they have any special requirements, such as a maximum amount of people you can bring with you. If you have a particular dress or style in mind, let them know beforehand so they can be best prepared.

Choose Your Squad Carefully

You might be really excited about bringing your mom, sisters and entire bridal party, but it's important to choose a smaller group of people that will be supportive and honest yet tactful. The more people you bring, the more opinions they bring with them and you may end up getting confused or overwhelmed. If there's someone in your family or party that you know will upset you, don't be afraid to leave them at home.

Order What Fits You Now

Even if you are planning to lose some weight before the big day, order your dress at your current size. If you do lose weight, it's a lot easier to take a dress in than to let it out. Besides, your fiance proposed to you, not you minus 20 pounds!

Wear Good Underwear

This is so, so important. Wear supportive underwear that is either white or nude in color, and a strapless or multiway bra that can be adjusted depending on the neckline and shoulder styles you try. Good underwear will streamline your body and make you feel a lot more confident while you try on gowns.

Be Open To New Ideas

While you may be going wedding dress shopping with a very specific style in mind, say fit and flare or princess ballgown, don't be afraid to try on different styles. Many bridal consultants are incredibly experienced and can tell what kind of dress will suit a bride just by looking at them. Ask for their genuine opinion, but trust your instincts too - if they're trying to put you into something you really don't want, then tell them so.
